About the Role:
We seek an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting and optimization of LUUM’s groundbreaking robot. This role requires technical expertise in mechatronic systems (including electrical, mechanical, and software systems), with a strong emphasis on electromechanical systems including AC supply, DC motors, digital sensors and busses. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless operation of our high-precision robotic platforms while adhering to strict safety protocols. Strong technical acumen, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This role combines hands-on electrical work with cutting-edge AI/ML robotics. Engineers will use tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and proprietary diagnostic software.

Responsibilities
Technical Operations
Install, configure, and commission AI/ML robotic systems at retail (shop within a shop) sites, focusing on electrical and mechanical integration, troubleshooting and calibration.
Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues, including firmware glitches, cable faults, and actuation issues.
Safely access and troubleshoot AC/DC cabinets (up to 240V), following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and OSHA-compliant safety practices.
Update firmware, calibrate sensors, and make mechanical hardware and software settings adjustments to ensure precise robotic movements for eyelash application.
Precision soldering, crimping, and cable assembly for low-voltage signal integrity.
Safety & Compliance
Conduct risk assessments and enforce safety protocols for robotic systems and operations.
Help to develop training for future technicians on safe system operation.
Required Qualifications
Location: Dallas, TX
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
Experience: 5+ years in field service roles with robotics, industrial automation, or precision electromechanical systems.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in DC power systems (up 60VDC) and AC systems (up to 240VAC), including troubleshooting and component replacement,
Familiar with Linux and comfortable with its command line.
Experience with motion control systems such as: harmonic drives, linear rails, lead screws, ball screws, planetary gear heads, and cycloidal drives.
Ability to read and debug electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Hands-on experience fixing mechanisms, replacing cables/harnesses, and resolving grounding issues.
Safety: Certified in NFP.A 70E (Electrical Safety) or equivalent training.
Travel: Willingness to travel 30-60% to LUUM salons and LUMM Studio in Oakland, CA.
Responsibilities (cont.)
Documentation & Collaboration
Interpret electrical schematics and system diagrams to isolate faults or optimize performance
Document service activities, including root-cause analyses, parts replacements, with the objective to help develop training for future technicians.
Collaborate with offsite robotics engineers to provide field feedback for system improvements.
Communicate clearly and professionally with the studio operations team to schedule service visits, provide status updates, and address technical concerns or questions.
Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and support teams to resolve complex technical issues and participate in product improvement initiatives.
Research and stay updated on new technologies, equipment upgrades, and service solutions to enhance client operations and recommend improvements as needed.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company protocols, safety guidelines, and industry standards.
Participate in ad-hoc projects or additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to AI/ML-driven robotics or computer vision systems.
Experience with optical systems.
Experience with laboratory, medical, or industrial automation equipment is an asset.
Experience leading teams or vendors is highly desired.
Familiarity with networked systems, IT integration, or hospital/clinical environments is desirable.
Prior experience leading or mentoring junior technicians is a plus.
Familiarity with CAN bus, Ethernet - UDP and TCP/IP, EtherCAT, or other industrial communication protocols.
Ability to troubleshoot circuit boards and cable harnesses.
